Your comments aren't getting published? Here's why.

I'll post most comments. I'm open to differing viewpoints. They're far more interesting that people who just agree with me. In fact, I hope to get many commenters from other religious viewpoints than my own. I can probably learn from you, if you're not too much of a jerk.

This site isn't intended for children, so tasteful conversations of adult subject matter are OK, and even profanity will get posted un-edited, as long as it's being used to emphasize a point, and not just to be crude for crudeness sake. You may even get away with some of that. I like to think I have a pretty good sense of humor. I watch and enjoy South Park when I have time, so I clearly know how to laugh at ideas I may disagree with or even find offensive.

You can even use the comments section to promote your own blog, book, seminar, home-based cosmetics business, whatever, as long as you are actually contributing to the conversation in the process, and as long as it's not abusive, repetitive, or obnoxious.

The following are factors which will contribute toward the likelihood of me deleting your post unpublished:

1.) It's short and pointless. "Yup, I agree."

2.) It's self promoting, but not contributing to the conversation, i.e., "Thats a good point about mid nineteenth century ecumenism and you should come see my comedy team perform at the Laugh Factory on Tuesday" (bad) or "You're completely missing the point, idiot, and you should read my book on the subject, which can be purchased from Amazon here" (good, assuming the point was about scrapbooking).

3.) It contains blatant personal attacks. "Obviously your analysis is invalid because you're an occultist candy-stealing monkey scrubber." (But a good sense of humor may get you past this.)

4.) It's entirely racist, sexist, or otherwise hateful, and not at all amusing or useful for proving your stupidity.

Finally, if a comment doesn't get approved, I'm more likely to delete it than to edit it myself for posting. I'd rather let you speak in your own words, so feel free to try again if your comment doesn't get through in a day or two. But since I really am pretty generous about publishing, a superficial revision likely won't make a difference.
