"You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me." - Jesus Christ (John 5:39)

"The poet only asks to get his head into the heavens. It is the logician who seeks to get the heavens into his head. And it is his head that splits." - G.K. Chesterton

"The kingdom of God is not based on talk, but on action." - Saint Paul, 1 Corinthians 4:20, paraphrased

Make Music, Not War

Given the in-fighting nastiness going on at BHT, and the renewal of hostilities between BHT & Team Pyro, I thought it appropriate timing to post this musical mash-up I created a while ago. The lyrics are appropriate to the situation.

What the Hell!?

Settle in. This post is my longest yet...

So I had been composing a post on the topic of Hell in my head for the last few days. Imagine my delight, when I discovered that the Boar's Head Tavern had gone and got into the conversation while I was away for the weekend.

Post-Fundamental definitely; Post-Evangelical...?

I love Michael Spencer. SmartGuy(tm), etc. His laments in particular are some of the best Christian writing on the web. But I can't help differing with him when he tells a story to explain why he calls himself 'post-evangelical' here: Why I'm Post-Evangelical

Phil Cooke is a SmartGuy(TM)

Seriously. See this: http://philcooke.com/Battle_Cry Yes, I've posted too much today. Yes, I will stop now. Just trying to get the momentum going so this will be a cool place to hang out and chat sooner, rather than later.

Debates

I'm looking for individuals willing to engage me in a casual debate, in the spirit of Christian fellowship, here on a special section of this website to be created for the purpose of one-on-one debates. The tone of such debates would be quite different than my average post. I promise to be nicer.

James R. White is a Dufus(TM)

Jimmy James White wrote this, good, bad, and ugly. Roman Catholicism may not be the best path for getting Beyond Fundamentalism, but it sure beats several other options. ;-)

Church Innovations

American Evangelical churches have learned a lot about innovation from contemporary marketers. The results have usually ranged from annoying to painful, as they've generally forgotten that church is about loving and serving one another, not about packing the pews full of as many warm bodies as possible. (Funny how churches are the fullest when the center of attention is a cold body, but thats a whole 'nother post...)

OpenTheism

This site is now OpenID enabled, so you can use the same log-in across an ever growing number of website. Learn more at openid.net . Oh, and if anyone wants to discuss Open Theism, use this comments section. That's a topic I'd be interested in engaging. Nice transition, huh? ;-)

Out of the Closet

Yes, I do realize many people will use the fact that I've confessed to reading comic books as a reason to write me off. No, I don't care.
